About
Pop-Up Cultural Food Drive – Program Overview

EFry.png

Welcome to the official page of DuMonde Helping Hands Foundation’s newest flagship initiative: the Pop-Up Cultural Food Hub. Launched in late May 2025, this innovative (Numbered with "Volumes"), community-first program has quickly become a cornerstone of our mission to eliminate hunger, promote cultural dignity, and build empowered, inclusive communities across Metro Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

What is the Pop-Up Cultural Food Drive?

The Pop-Up Cultural Food Drive is a mobile, volunteer-driven initiative designed to bring free, healthy, culturally appropriate groceries to underserved communities—right where they are. Unlike traditional food banks, our Pop-Up Drive ‘pops up’ in public, high-traffic spaces such as SkyTrain stations, public parks, plazas, and community centers or residences across Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, New Westminster, and beyond.

Each Pop-Up Drives, operates as a one-day cultural event, blending food relief with community engagement, dignity, and joy. We distribute nutrient-rich groceries sourced through partnerships with local grocers, Real Canadian Superstore, and local farmers while honouring the cultural preferences of the diverse families we serve.

"If Immediate food/feeding is out of what keeps people poor, then poverty is definitely out of the way" -African Proverb

Mission

Why the Pop-Up Cultural Food Drive Matters

In a time of rising food prices and economic instability, many families are forced to choose between housing and food. Immigrants, single parents, seniors, and persons with disabilities often face the harshest challenges, especially when navigating culturally unfamiliar food support systems. Our Pop-Up Cultural Food Drive breaks these barriers by bringing accessible, dignified, and inclusive food relief to the people—when and where they need it most.

Join us in rewriting the narrative on food relief—one Pop-Up at a time. Whether you're looking to volunteer, give, or simply learn more, we invite you to explore the powerful impact of our work and become a vital part of our mission.

Vision & Program Impact

• From 1-5 volumes completed in 5 different locations (May-June 2025)

• Over 2,100 recipients were directly supported

• Over 11,000 pounds of food distributed

• Over  youth and adult volunteers mobilized

• Partnered with Collingwood Community Policing, Real Canadian Superstore, and other civic organizations

• Promoted zero waste through the redistribution of surplus food.

Our vision is to scale the Pop-Up Cultural Food Drive across more neighbourhoods, host events every other day, and introduce new services such as on-site mental health check-ins, newcomer settlement support, and cultural performances to celebrate diversity. With your continued support, we can expand to more cities and inspire a national movement of mobile, inclusive, and equitable food distribution.
